Hints and Tips

  • For all courses:
    • Take each mastery for practice until you are able to consistently get a score for which you will get credit. You may practice the test as many times as you like!
    • Note that full credit may be granted only if you get a sufficiently high score. Check with your instructor if you are not sure how credit is given for a given test score.
    • Watch Your Case: X is different from x. Always use the same case and variables as the problem you're solving.
    • Always Preview your answers.
  • Math 105:
    Masteries 1–5: Have one page with five problems. Check with your instructor to determine the score you need for credit.
  • Math 115:
    Function Concepts, Derivative Procedures, and tegral Concepts Masteries: Have one page with seven problems, and a 30 (Derivative Procedures) or 40 (Function and Integral Concepts) minute time limit. Check with your instructor to determine what score you need for credit.
  • Math 116:
    Entrance and Integral Gateways: Have one page with seven problems, and a 30 minute time limit; and require at least a 6/7 for credit.
  • Math 215:
    Entrance Gateway: Has one page with seven problems, and a 30 minute time limit; and requires at least a 6/7 for credit.
  • Math 214, 217 and 296:
    Matrix Operations Gateway: Has one page with eight problems, and a 20 minute time limit; it requires a 7/8 for credit.
  • Math 217 and 296:
    Diagonalization Gateway has one page with five problems, and a 20 minute time limit; it requires a 5/5 for credit.
  • Math 297:
    Derivative and Integral Gateways: Have one page with seven problems, and a 30 minute time limit; and require at least a 6/7 for credit.
